Our accessibility goal
Eldran Academic Press aims to make its websites and digital publishing services usable by the widest practical range of readers, authors, reviewers and editors, including people with disabilities. Our target for new and materially redesigned web interfaces is conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, while recognising that some legacy or third-party components may require ongoing remediation.
Design and functionality practices
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and controls, with visible focus indicators.
- Sufficient colour contrast and avoidance of colour as the sole method of conveying meaning.
- Meaningful heading structures, form labels, error messages and instructions compatible with assistive technologies.
- Alternative text for meaningful images and appropriate treatment of decorative images.
- Responsive layouts that support zoom, reflow and common desktop/mobile viewport sizes.
- Avoidance of unnecessary flashing, time limits or motion that creates barriers; where motion is used, provide controls when required.
- Descriptive link text and accessible names for icons and buttons.
Articles and files
HTML should be the preferred accessible reading format where available. The Publisher will aim to improve PDF accessibility through logical reading order, selectable text, tagged headings, meaningful links, table structure and alternative descriptions for figures where the production workflow supports them. Complex equations, datasets, scanned historic material or third-party files may present additional barriers.
Submission and peer-review system
Core tasks such as registration, login, manuscript submission, reviewer acceptance, review submission and editorial decision processing should be tested for keyboard operation, labels and understandable validation messages. Accessibility issues introduced by third-party software or plugins should be documented and remediated or worked around where reasonably practicable.
Requesting an accessible format or reporting a barrier
If you cannot access content or complete a publishing task because of an accessibility barrier, contact info@eldranacademic.com and describe the page or document, the barrier encountered, the assistive technology or device involved if you wish to share it, and the format or adjustment that would help. We will make reasonable efforts to provide an accessible alternative and prioritise fixes that block essential author, reviewer or reader tasks.
Assessment and updates
Accessibility is an ongoing process. The Publisher should periodically test representative pages and workflows using automated checks and manual keyboard/screen-reader review, especially after major theme, plugin or submission-system changes. This statement will be updated as the platform and conformance level evolve.
